We all want to be perfect, run perfect, say perfect things and behave perfectly. The reality isn’t that. We can only strive for perfection and try to be the best versions of ourselves every given day. Each day is different, circumstances vary and we have to constantly adjust. In sports, we want to PB all the time but honestly, doing your best on that day helps you grow more and connect with this sport more. Sometimes it is a PB, sometimes it isn’t. What matters is that we value ourselves and respect ourselves. That’s what you have at the end of a day anyway: your own thoughts. Just wanted to share that as I am 30 now and sometimes I get philosophical. Also watching everyone around the world running crazy times, world records, can cause some anxiety, but you are you and you have to accept that the journey itself is beautiful and you should make it fun. Well, Happy Monday. Officially, I am half marathoner now. Not too shabby but 1:11 feels pretty good. Here is a little recap. My goal was to go under 71 but it must wait. The conditions weren’t too pleasant but honestly, it wasn’t that bad. Just from about 13th km till 18km we ran against some wind. I ran in a super fun group for about 10km, ran 33:21 for 10k and felt soooo good! I was truly having fun! Smiling and laughing to the crowds. After 5:16 mile I wasn’t ready to keep that group’s pace and that’s when I started running alone. There were some runners that passed me, or that I passed. It was just a dynamic environment. It didn’t hurt till 3km to go! Then it was hard haha! However at the finish line, I was like “that’s it?” I wasn’t out of breath or lactic. Track pain is soooo much different. You can’t talk, breath, walk or sometime even cool down, after this one, we changed shoes and went for a normal 2-mile cool down. The pain on the roads is less intense but lasts longer. Honestly, my 10-mile tempo in ABQ at 6:03 felt worst! Haha I want to be brave and different this year. That’s why…. I am running indoor track - very soon! More info to come. My 2024 season is over. It was a very good one. Let me give you some insights. Indoor mile PB 4:29, 2 mile PB 9:35, 5k Indoor National Record -15:36 5k -15:31 in April (1s off PB) 3000m steeple -9:22 in May (fastest opener and 1s off PB then) 1500m outdoor PB -4:10 (low key meet) European Champs 7th place (9:29 & 9:23) 2k steeple huge PB -6:04 Finally won my first National Title in the steeple (9:32) Diamond League Paris 7th place -9:17 Olympic Games -13th place (9:16 - broke 18-year old NR & 9:21) I wanted to run one more 1500m but I cut my foot terribly at a beach in Sardinia. Ran the most miles with my sister @anetakonieczek and my partner Ben! In the preparation cycle, I ran the same mileage, did the same weight routine, was able to do about 8 double threshold sessions, ran workout PBs 400m in 60s, 1k 2:49, 6k -20:35. Besides all of that, I do much more than just running: I organize 5 running events per year @racejackrabbit I time tens of endurance races I coach a few athletes I sell planners @alixontraining I train dogs I worked on a yard (23 tons of dirt was brought in) I garden I am also working on a HUGE PROJECT that will help Polish endurance athletes (stay tuned) 🌟🌟🌟 I have good and bad days. Running gives me more than the highest highs, it gives me the lowest lows and days where I am too tired to walk my dogs. It also makes me feel powerful. Running has thought me that commitment, hard work and healthy, happy environment lead to success. I know a lot of you there are in environments that don’t serve you.
